Think you don't have time? The English Dept. can help!

Even though it's February, summer wedding season is fast approaching and if you’re planning a wedding this year, you might be starting to feel the time crunch. At The English Dept most of the dresses we carry take anywhere from three to five months for a regular order.  Don’t have that kind of time?  Don’t worry!  Almost all of our designers can accommodate a rush order when necessary!  We’ve compiled a handy list of some options and tips for brides who are short on time:

The gorgeous Blaine by Nicole Miller, as seen in a behind-the-scenes photograph from our look book shoot. Blaine is glitzy, glamorous, and comfortable- all of the qualities you want in a wedding dress!

1.  Buying a dress “off the rack”.

At The English Dept. (and most boutiques) the dresses in the shop are samples for brides to try on before ordering.  We normally have just one sample gown for the styles we carry and the size and condition of each sample will vary.  When someone purchases the sample dress from a store it’s considered buying “off the rack” and can be a great option if you’re short on time or on a budget. We generally have a few dresses in the shop that we would be able to sell off the rack, check with us for current availability!

2.  Ordering the dress you love with a rush.

In some cases, a designer will be able to do a rush order on a dress to accommodate a tighter time frame. This will add to the cost of the dress and you can expect the price of the rush fee to increase the closer it is to the wedding date. That means you might be paying an extra $100-$300, but your  dress will be ready months faster than the usual timeframe.

3.  Nicole Miller

Certain designers keep a limited amount of stock available and ready to ship.  It’s a bit rare and the styles, sizes and amounts on hand can vary, especially during busy times of year. Nicole Miller is one such designer, making her a great option for brides with a deadline. We carry a wide variety of her designs in the shop, so it never hurts to come buy and browse our selection!

4. Xtabay Vintage Bridal Boutique

Xtabay is another fabulous option for last minute brides, particularly if you are drawn to vintage styles! They have a constantly rotating assortment of gorgeous vintage frocks, hailing from any decade from the 1900s through today. Everything is available off the rack, so there is absolutely zero turn around time from the time you purchase the dress to the time you take it home with you.
